CCS Launches Cumberland Family Academy, a district-wide family engagement outreach program!

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and school starting remotely, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) remains committed to supporting families through the launch of Cumberland Family Academy.

Starting Sept. 24, Cumberland Family Academy will host virtual workshops on a variety of topics, including support with Canvas and PowerSchool, internet safety, academic success, community resources and much more. Access the entire course catalog here.

The sessions will take place virtually at 6 p.m. on Thursdays. Families can join each session, where they will be able to participate and ask questions. Additionally, CCS will post an encore of each session on the district’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on the following Tuesday.

The first session, PowerSchool 101, will take place on September 24. This session will help families navigate the PowerSchool platform. Visit bit.ly/PowerSchool101 to register now!

Progress Reports – First Nine Weeks
Families may access the PowerSchool Parent Portal to view student progress, including grades from the first nine weeks. While CCS is operating under Plan C (Total Remote Learning), progress reports will not be mailed.

High school report card grades from the first quarter will be available through the Parent Portal.

The PowerSchool Parent Portal provides a ‘real-time’ view of student progress. Learn more about how to access and create an account at https://bit.ly/2YJYR2C.

Monday, August 17 will be the first day of school for Cumberland County Schools (CCS) students. Our goal is to keep students, parents, and staff abreast of everything that is going on to “set the stage” for a successful school year.

“This is a new frontier for all of us as we embark upon a new normal. It is important that we pace ourselves — this is a marathon, not a sprint … we will succeed as long as we remain focused on what is most important — providing every student with equitable access to engaging learning that prepares them to be competitive, collaborative, and successful in our global world. You see, our vision has not changed. We remain committed to the success of every child.”

                                         — CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr.
