CCS is offering another option for families who want to receive meals for their children, but for various reasons are unable to visit a meal site. Beginning October 13, Child Nutrition Services will be distributing five-day meal bundles on Tuesdays. Meal bundles must be pre-ordered. To reserve a meal bundle, parents and caregivers will complete an order form weekly, selecting the pick-up time and location. Quantities are limited and will be provided while supplies last. For families who are not participating in the five-day meal bundle option, the district will continue to provide daily ready-to-eat meals for children 18 years and younger. The district has created a COVID-19 dashboard to provide up-to-date information on positive COVID-19 cases in the school system. District staff will update the dashboard on Friday of each week. To learn more and access the dashboard, visit the CCS website.

Please remember that CCS meal sites continue to serve meals to all children 18 years and younger at no charge. Child Nutrition Services is excited to offer new meal options for families of CCS students, while supplies last. For additional information, be sure to visit the CCS website.

As we continue to navigate through this unprecedented time, we encourage everyone to follow the guidance of health officials. It’s important that we continue to practice the three Ws — wear a cloth mask over your nose and mouth, wait six feet apart and avoid close contact, and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. These actions will help flatten the curve and slow the spread of COVID-19.

As always, visit the CCS website for additional information about happenings in the district.

Well, there you have it your CCS Update for this week. Consider yourself ‘in the know and informed’ and have a wonderful weekend!

Monday, August 17 will be the first day of school for Cumberland County Schools (CCS) students. Our goal is to keep students, parents, and staff abreast of everything that is going on to “set the stage” for a successful school year.

“This is a new frontier for all of us as we embark upon a new normal. It is important that we pace ourselves — this is a marathon, not a sprint … we will succeed as long as we remain focused on what is most important — providing every student with equitable access to engaging learning that prepares them to be competitive, collaborative, and successful in our global world. You see, our vision has not changed. We remain committed to the success of every child.”

                                         — CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr.
